How To Get Rid Of Blackheads Fast

Article by Dave Arnoldi

Acne occurs when a skin pore, also known as a follicle becomes blocked. At the base of each follicle is a sebum producing gland, or sebaceous gland. Sebum is a body oil that the skin uses as a natural moisturiser. When the pore becomes blocked, the sebum can no longer be secreted through the pore, and bacteria begins to grow.

Blackheads occur when the bacteria and sebum push through the surface of the skin. They are thus exposed to the air and begin to oxidise. This oxidisation is what gives them their black colouring. This black spot is not dirt, cannot be washed away, and can take a long time to disappear naturally. So let’s take a look at how to get rid of blackheads fast.

People who have either a combination type or an oily type skin are more likely to develop blackheads. There are various ways to get rid of blackheads.

* Never pick at a blackhead. Picking at a blackhead, or indeed, any form of acne can make the condition worse.

* It is important for your body to remain hydrated. Drink plenty of water every day. This cleanses the body naturally from within.

* A simple treatment is to apply lemon juice to the affected area several times a day. Leave on for about 10 minutes, and then wash it off with warm water, and dry your skin with a soft towel. You can also add a bit of cinnamon powder to the lemon juice before applying it to your skin. This mixture helps to heal and remove blackheads quickly. This, however, can leave your skin feeling rather dry.

* One natural remedy is to mix mint juice and turmeric powder to a paste. Apply it to the blackhead, and leave for 15 to 20 minutes. Rinse it off using warm water, and gently dry your skin.

* Combine some baking soda with water and use to clean your skin at least twice a week. This loosens the blackheads as well as leaving the skin feeling soft and smooth.

* There are also some good mild cleansers available at retail outlets. Wash daily using a mild cleanser (make sure it is non-abrasive as this will only injure your skin). Once your skin is dry, apply toner, and a good quality moisturiser. Do this every day, and it will not only prevent new blackheads from forming, but will also cure any already existing, and give you good, clear looking skin.

A comedone extractor is a tool used to remove blemishes such as blackheads, pimples and whiteheads. Often, those who are afflicted with thsee common skin conditions have a hesitancy to remove the blemishes because they are afraid of scarring, which can happen under some circumstances. A comedone extractor is a tool not much bigger than a pair of tweezers that is said to make removal easier, without as much risk of creating scars. The comedone extractor has one or two looped ends, with one of them usually ending in a shaper point. In most cases, the comedone extractor can be used to remove some surface pimples, but blemishes located deeper should be left alone due to risk of infection and scarring. The comedone extractor uses the looped end to apply pressure to all areas of the pimple. This is different than the finger squeeze method which centers pressure on one point. While it may be possible to use the comedone extractor by itself, with very little preparation, it is not recommended. Instead, the directions usually call for allowing steam to hit the face for a few minutes. This helps open up the skin pores a little more. Caution should be taken during this step simply because there is a potential of getting burned, depending on how hot the water is. The steaming can be done in a couple of different ways. The most convenient way may be just to take a warm to hot shower, where the steam will come up and cover the face. The other way is to boil water over a stove and allow
